HOPPY EASTER!

Have you ever seen a cuter litte bunny?!?! Emma and I got to spend a lot of quality time together this weekend and I loved every minute. She invited my Mom and I over for a play date the day before Easter and we graciously accepted. We hung out and watched her do all of her "tricks."  She can now smile and roll over. She is sooooo advanced:) Right now her favorite activity is to sit in her jumper and stare at her crazy Auntie Amanda and Glamma Stefanie. HA!  She got baptised on Easter Sunday and we followed that up with a great party and Robyn's parent's house.  We drove down with Kosta, got lost on our way, ate breakfast at a random little burrito stand, and got stuck in a traffic jam on the way home. It's always an adventure when the Lelands and Kosta are involved!

(Look at those cheeks and LIPS. LOVE.)

Even though most of the fuss was made over Emma, we didn't forget about the other diva in our life and took my Auntie Chris out to lunch for her birthday.  We went to a cute little mexican restaurant with a couple of other friends and had so much fun. They must have thought it was her 21st birthday though because they gave her the most humongous tequila shot.  It was seriously the biggest shot I have ever seen...and I have been to A LOT of mexican restaurants and bars!  HA! She took it like a champ though.  I never doubted her for a second!

I didn't do much shopping...just some Sephora makeup and a Pacific Tiger's workout shirt. My favorite momento from the trip was my new PACIFIC tumbler.  Obvi I need to support the Tyges way out here in Kansas. Everyone at work is super jelly of my cup. HA!

Anyhoo, it was a great trip home. Lulu is at the groomers right now after spending the last couple of weeks in and out of doggy daycare. I can't wait to see her new summer cut. I will post pics tomorrow!

HOW SWEET IT WAS......

Hey there!!! Long time no talk....I know, I know... it's all my fault.  The past couple of months have been a wild ride and between basketball, Lulu, my family and friends, I was swamped.   And to be honest, this season was filled with so many highs and lows, I just didn't have the energy to blog.  But the season is over and I AM BACK. Before we move forward, here is a quick recap of what has been happening.....

We made the NCAA tournament after pretty much everyone, except ourselves and the selection committee, had counted us out.  And we didn't just make the tournament....we dominated, advancing all the way to the Sweet 16 and knocking off TWO teams that were ranked higher than us. We ended up getting beat by Tennessee (after being ahead by 5 at half) to end our season.   It was an insane couple of weeks but SO MUCH FUN.  This team and staff is a true testament to hard work and perserverance.  There is no way to do the experience justice in my little ol' blog but I am going to post some pics for you guys to get a sense of what was happening and why I didn't have much time to write.  Here are just a couple of picks that documented that CRAZY couple of weeks...

I think the smiles tell the story....It was great ride and EXACTLY why I am in this profession. The smiles on those girl's faces are just priceless.

And I'm not forgetting about our boys...They exceeded expectations too, making it all the way to the Championship Game in New Orleans. I was able to hop on a plane (shout out to Dad for the use of his airline miles) and hang out for a couple of days with the bestie.  Burboun Street was insanity, the food was all fried, and I was one happy girl to get on a plane home.

The 2011-2012 basketball season was one for the record books for both the men and the women.  I am sooo proud to be a Jayhawk!

I have a lot of exciting things coming up and I promise I will keep in touch. It will be WAY easier now that basketball is over.  I am going home to California for Emma's christening this weekend so I will have a full recap when I get back. Coach O. is moving BACK to Lawrence this weekend and I couldn't.be.happier.

Bring on lake season!!!!

I've missed you all:)

JUST THINK PINK AND SPARKLE

I know I have been MIA but we have been in major crisis mode here in WBB. I just wanted to pop in and confirm that I am still alive, and that I am ok. We have the PINK game this weekend, so that is at least something to look forward to! I mean, how can you go wrong with pink uniforms?!?!?

So I will perservere. In tough times like these, a DIVA has to remember......

WORD.

HELLO, MONDAY.

I can honestly say that I have never been so happy to see Monday morning.  Gheesh...talk about a rough weekend for my Jayhawks. My girlies lost a road game to defending national champs, Texas A&M, and my boys lost a HEARTBREAKER to Missery. Just one of those events alone is a bummer, but BOTH in one weekend...I can't even hardly take it.  But that's what I love about Monday morning....it means a chance to start over and get it right! The women have a home game on Wednesday against Texas (horns down) and the men travel to #6 Baylor.   Neither game will be easy, but both are winnable. Time to turn this runaway train around!

One positive from the weekend is I did great on my workouts. I went to boxing every morning and did extra cardio each day.  I tried with my diet, but I did slip up a few times. It's a constant struggle for me.  I saw this on Pinterest this morning and thought it described me perfectly......

HA!  Love it.

Like the rest of America, I did watch the Superbowl. First half at Hudy's and the second half at Lora's.  I really had no interest in the game, but I did dig the halftime show. Madonna is the BEST and it seems like she never ages!  I got to spend some QT with Lulu so I think I am back in her good graces.  FINALLY.

Anyhoo..that is all that is happening with me. Hopefully I have some good news to blog about mid-week.

TRAGIC NEWS (NOT REALLY)......

I fried the front of my hair off with my hot rollers this AM. I admit it, I have been a slave to curlers since junior high. I blame my Mother. Needless to say, I will be taking a break from the heating tools for a while. HEART BE STILL.

What else can a girl to do but throw in a bobby pin and move on?! I will be stopping at Claires for some rhinestone ones after work. Might as well make the best of it. That's what a diva does.

I MISS YOU, REAL WORLD.....

So I don't have much time to blog today but I wanted to pop in to prove to everyone that I am still alive.  We are on the tail end of a two game losing skid and things around here are INTENSE. Like I don't even want to take a breath for fear that I get noticed....THAT intense.  But even though the basketball Gods seem to be mad at us right now, I know the real world, outside of basketball, is still movin' right along. And during times like this I have to remember that my real world is pretty darn fabulous:

HUDSON turned three and Lulu and I got an invite to the par-tay.  It was a truck themed party but I, of course, went the Jayhawk route:

Hudson loved his gift and that made me feel really good. Anything for that kid. It might even have been his favorite prezie.  He also got a really cool man bag tackle box...but I'm telling myself he liked the ball the best. No way I am losing out to FISHING GEAR. Of course the cake was delish.  Lora knows better than to mess around with that.  Good food. Good people. Good times.

The girls threw out t-shirts last night at the MBB game. Eventhough I want to KILL them right now..they were still pretty darn cute.  NOW FREAKIN' MAKE A GOSH DARN FREE THROW!!!!!!

Sorry, I lost it there for a sec. Focus.

I have been working a lot lately...example: our game Tuesday, men's game Wednesday, radio show tonight...so I have been neglecting my little lady. I feel really bad but I try to explain to her that someone has to go out and make the money that puts food in her bowl and collars around her neck!! Being a single mom aint easy!

Obvi she is not happy with me right now. She wants to go live with Glamma.

So that's my life in a blogshell.  The next month is going to be pretty rough around here so I am going to have to try and find comfort in the little things.

I wonder if Hudson has any birthday cake left.

TWO VERY HUNGRY CATERPILLARS

YOYOYO....

So here is the deal...When we lose, I hate blogging.   HATE it. Probably because losing makes my blood boil (I'm assuming it's an inherited trait from Ballgame. I blame him.) and everything is a funk until we win again. But I am trying to change that.  Needless to say, we didn't beat defending national champs, so this is the perfect opportunity to practice "blogging through a loss." HA!

Sunday Cappy had a birthday party for her presh 1 year old twins, Harrison and Winston. It was actually great timing since all of us were soooo ready to do something that had NOTHING to do with hoops. She picked The Hungry Caterpillars book as her theme and rocked it!

She had us all sign individual books for the boys as a rememberance, darling catapiller pencil favors, and a house filled with screaming kids. It was awesome. Her husband made adult beverages for the grownups so this was one happy Aunt Amanda. Probably the funniest part of the whole day was this pic that Cappy posted on her facey that night:

The twins older bro, Charlie, had so much fun that he fell asleep at the dinner table! Now I think that is the true sign of a GREAT PARTY.  Congratulations to the Capps family for surviving year #1 :)

A couple of side notes:

#1 Alumni weekend was a success, but since we lost, I don't really feel like talking about it. Long story short....I think people had a great time and it is def something we will do again next year.

#2 Sally Hansen nail strips DO NOT come off easily. At all. I still am picking off residue three days later. So annoying.

We play again tomorrow night so it's another oppurtinity to make things right again. I have faith in my girls!!!!

A COUPLE OF NAIL BITERS

So we survived another road game last night......We beat Oklahoma State in Stillwater by 5.  It was another nail biter but, as my Dad would say, "I will take and ugly win over a pretty loss any day." AMEN. It doesn't get any easier from here though.  This weekend we have defending national champion, Texas A&M, as well as alumni weekend so you probably won't hear much from me until Monday.  But I just wanted to pop in and say how proud I am of my girls.  Let's keep this train movin'....ROCK CHALK!

Speaking of nail biters,  I finally tried those Sally Hansen nail strip thingys and I AM OBSESSED.........
They were super easy to apply and turned out so.darn.cute.  I am reserving the official Darling Diva stamp of approval until I remove them because I  want to make sure they are as easy to take off as they were to put on. If they are, they will get my 100% approval.  I won't leave you all in suspense for long. I am going to take them off tonight because I have so many work events this weekend and I know they aren't the most professional thing. HA!  But they are fun for a random night out if I want to spice up an outfit. Below are all of the other options...I am going to try houndstooth next......

Lulu got a prezie from Crystal yesterday and she and I are so thrilled. Crystal sent her Mackenzie Childs dog bowls. It's like fine china for dogs. Lulu is one lucky puppy. Thank you Crystal and Glamma.......LOVE.

Tonight I have a hair appointment and will be missing Bonnie's radio show for the first time this season.  I am actually bummed but I have to make sure these skanky roots are taken care of before people start mistaking me for a brunette! How awful would that be?!?!?!?! HA!

At the last radio show......Am I a natural or what????

Hope you all have a great weekend. And don't forget to say a little prayer for my JAYHAWKS!

MIZZOU WHO?!?!?!?

Hi Y'all!  Long time no talk...Tis the season, I guess!  We just got back from a road game at Missouri so I thought I would check in.  This game was HUGE for us and, once again, the girls responded.  Since Mizzou is running like scared little babies to the SEC it was the last time Kansas Women's Basketball would ever play in Columbia. It was important to us and our fans to walk away with a win.  The game was on national TV so my parents got to see me since I sit right behind the bench. It was fun texting with my Mom and other friends that were watching.  Everyone said I looked fabulous....obvi.  I even got a text from my technologically challenged Dad.  Are pigs flying?!?!?!  It probably took him 5 minutes to type one sentance.  HA! Just kidding, Dad, I am actually really proud of you.  I was so excited after the win that I didn't get my phone out in time to snap a cute pic...so I did the best I could. Way to go girls!!!!

Anyhoo....it was a great weekend. Next up is Oklahoma State on Wednesday....bring on the Cowgirls......

This weekend is the big Alumni Reunion that I am in charge of and I am super nervous. But I know Cappy has my back, so everything will turn out fabulous.  If it's one thing I'm good at....it is throwing a party!!!! We are going to show the returning alumni a great time. Below are the cute invites I did. Once I get pics of the t-shirts, wine glasses and the rest of the swag, I will post those too.

That is all I have for today!!! Our men play #4 Baylor tonight so things are buzzing around here.

DON'T MESS WITH KANSAS!!!

I just have to brag a little. I'm so proud of our girls....We beat #22 Texas ON THE ROAD last night and showed a lot of heart when the Longhorns made a huge run at the end.  We play in the toughest conference in America so to make the NCAA tournament it's key that we win at home and steal a couple on the road. Last night we did just THAT!  Bonnie has a long day today (after landing home at 2 a.m.)....staff meeting, TV show, practice, and radio show tonight so I am happy for her that we got the "W."  As I've said before....winning makes everything better!!  Unfortunately it doesn't get any easier from here. Next up is Kansas State who just beat #8 Texas A&M last night.  The road to the tournament starts NOW.  ROCK CHALK!!!!

No pics from last night but here is a cute one of our captains.  They really carried us last night.  Angel had 22 and Moni had 19 last night.  Way to go girlies!!!!!

And I can't forget our boys! They had a fantastic night too. We beat Kansas State at home by a bunch. It's always feels good to put a whoopin' on the kitty cats!!!!

It was a great night to be a JAYHAWK!!!

BRING IT ON 2012!!!!

Apologies for the late blog post but I have had a little bit of a tough time recovering from my New Year's Eve shennanigans. Seriously, I am too old for this.  But you will all be happy to know that, besides the raging headache Sunday morning, I had yet another totally fab holiday weekend.

Saturday, otherwise known as New Year's Eve, was jammed packed.  I started my boxing classes that morning. I paid the $20 upgrade to get the pink gloves option...which I didn't even really consider an option. Totally worth it, don't you think?!?!?

That afternoon I went to the KU MBB game with Brooke. But I was exhausted from boxing and left at halftime.  I got two texts from people telling me to "wake up" so I knew it was time to leave.  We were winning by about 25 at that point so I felt like the boys had it under control. I, however, had to get a manicure and then book it home to rest up for the big New Year's Eve celebrations. Priorities.

New Year's Eve was fun, fun, fun. We kept it low key and went to a house party and then a little dive bar. I, however, am half my mother so I had to be a smidge over the top. Cue the light up 2012 glasses:

Proof that the apple doesn't fall far from the tree:

Stef and Ted partying hard in Cali. They were in bed by 8:30.

I was horrible about pics and this is the only other photo from the night...photography fail:

Hudy's hair, Sgt. Sarna, Me.

I failed with the photos but my glasses were a hit!!! I had people coming over to me and asking to borrow them to take pics. I kind of felt like a mini celeb.  SO fun.  Thanks to the original diva, Auntie Chris.  She gave me as part of my Christmas prezie.  She always has the BEST holiday gimmicks.

Sunday morning I woke up bright and early..10:00 am...with a raging headache and an appointment to work the registration table for the Bonnie Henrickson Holiday Clinic. Who's idea was it to schedule a clinic on New Year's Day ?!?!?! CAPPIE!!!!!!!!  Anyhoo it was pretty uneventful and, being the professional I am, I got through it just fine.  Tory's daughter, Avery, came in her blinged out basketball uniform and pink Adidas high tops.  Love this girl....

Notice her rhinestone Jayhawk headband. A birthday gift from your's truly.

Yesterday was another day off so I took down my Christmas decorations, took Lulu to her grooming appointment, and caught up on sleep. Here she is post bath....Isn't she just delish?!?!?!

SO I finished up 2011 well and started 2012 off right!!! I am excited to see what this next year will bring. All I can hope for is health and happiness for me and my loved ones....and a huge diamond ring!
